About

Steven Michael is the Dichroic Glassman. He uses dichroic glass to create art relative to his emotions and synesthesia. He has used the dichroic medium for over 27 years. His first use of dichroic glass was for fusing jewelry and cabochons, which has thus far evolved into being featured in fine stained glass windows, doors, multi-medium jewelry, photography, and sculptures; both cold worked and otherwise. He often uses LED lights, wood frames, metal frames, lasers, and soon Bluetooth. Some might have the opinion that these latter multi-medium creations look like futuristic neon cities. His fascination for the ancient Egyptian world is also apparent in some of his pieces such as his Egyptian Scarab door, and in his dichroic pyramids of light. Steven has pulled himself through many multiple profound life challenges, such as his synesthesia, autism, 87% color blindness (yes, a mystery regarding the complex color arrangements in his creations), open heart surgery, a head on automobile collision, and had a life changing near death accident barrel racing as a youngster. He looks forward to his creations serving as inspiration for others who have gone through profound illness, catastrophic events, accidents, or despondency. It is one of his aims to be an example of someone who can, and still is, striving for positivity, greatness, and newness despite the odds of existence being stacked against him. Steven is inspired by personal stories of people overcoming adversity and the unique ways people move through this world. His side project, found at www.namefrequencyrecognition.com, is a repository for such stories, conundrums, paradox, and philosophical inquiry.
